Our Goal

Our goal is to create a financially sustainable business that strengthens Native ownership, creates jobs, supports regional food systems, and contributes to long-term economic impact.

Foundation

Food has always been tied to stewardship, gathering, seasonality, and relationship to place.

Across the Great Lakes region, Indigenous communities shaped food systems through harvesting, preservation, and land stewardship long before modern restaurant structures existed.

Homage seeks to carry those values forward through contemporary hospitality.

03Menu Direction

Homage tells its story through method rather than theme.

Chicken cooking over open flame on the hearth grate

The menu is intentionally familiar: pizza, fish, roasted vegetables, sandwiches, bread, and seasonal plates. The distinction comes from how the food is prepared.

Pizza serves as the backbone of the restaurant, creating accessibility, consistency, and frequency. The opening program includes approachable traditional favorites alongside seasonal pizzas built around Michigan produce and preserved ingredients.

The Hearth Program

The hearth program expands beyond pizza through dishes such as smoked whitefish dip, wood-fired lake trout, roasted chicken with pan jus, fire-roasted vegetables, and seasonal roots, greens, and mushrooms.

Desserts continue the same approach through fruit, dairy, maple, and preserved seasonal ingredients.

The culinary direction reflects Great Lakes seasonality, preservation, and Indigenous foodways through practice and approach rather than symbolism.

04Regional Economic Impact

Homage intends to prioritize Michigan sourcing relationships whenever operationally feasible — keeping purchasing dollars circulating within regional food systems while supporting local producers, vendors, agriculture, and Michigan food economies.

Primary Spending Categories

Priority Sourcing Categories
  • Michigan agriculture and seasonal produce
  • Great Lakes fish and regional proteins
